If attempting to mess with that make sure to use e wrench at the center of the reel to hold the spring from unwinding. I've been using this Flexzilla reel for a couple of months now and the difference is noticeable. It is built much sturdier than the others and operates smoothly. I particularly like the hose guide that moves back and forth to keep the hose layered nicely on the spool.
