## Description

How to Detect Fin Rot? Fin rot is brought on by poor water conditions, stress and inconsistent feeding. When it begins to take hold on your betta, you may notice physical and behavioral changes. In the early stages, the edges of your fish’s fins will start to discolor causing red, black, brown or white edges. Fins and tails will begin to fray and small pieces will fall off leaving a ragged edge. It will spread uniformly from the top of the body to the tail area. If it gets severe, it makes it harder for your betta to swim, making him less active than normal. It is important to be sure your betta has tail melt and not a physical wound as you don’t want to medicate an otherwise normal fish. Regular water changes along with catappa leaves keep your tank clear and your fish wellness. Overcrowding and uncycled water are other common causes of inadequate water quality. Therefore, it is crucial that your betta’s aquarium water is clear and heated, and there is plenty of room to roam. Adequate size for single betta is 5-gallons and the smaller the tank, the water quality will affect quickly. Smaller tanks will, therefore, need water changes often, sometimes every 3-4 days. Ideal Conditions for Betta Fish As fin melt is most commonly caused by poor water quality, it is important to know the ideal living conditions for a betta. Betta fish prefers a pH that is neutral (7.0) with an ideal range of 6.8-7.4, and the temperature range should be between 78F - 81F. Once the temperature begins to drop below 78F or water condition levels get too high or too low, betta fish will become stressed and they will become weak. Get a reliable pH test kit and a thermometer to check the levels in your betta tank at least once or twice per week to proactively monitor your aquatic pet’s environment.

**Q: is this ok and good for the fancy guppies and fry guppies? thanks**
A: NO!  Don't do it, I thought I'd try some for my guppies too, thinking about the healing properties it has for bettas & betta fry.  But instead I lost about 100 guppy fry and around 20 of my adults! After, (should have done this prior !!) I  Googled it & found that there is something in the leaves that poison them.  I just use tap water that's been sitting out for a few days, same room temp. NO Catappa leaves.

**Q: A couple of leaves in my 5.5-gal tank crashed the pH from 6.8 to 6.3 in less than 12 hours.  How can I use leaves without pH crashes?**
A: Hello, Decreasing pH is one of the benefits offered by SunGrow leaves. If you don't want to decrease it, I would recommend using less number of leaves,Some experts recommend boiling the leaves to decrease the effect of tannins. You can try that and see if it works for your tank.

**Q: I have a 10 gallon aquarium with top fin silenstream filter. How many leaves to drop in for 1 smaller goldfish ?**
A: You could drop in a handful. There’s really no limit since the worst that really happens is the water gets very yellow. Though with even a small goldfish in this size tank you’ll likely be changing it out a lot since goldfish need a much bigger space since they produce a lot of waste and grow quite quickly.

**Q: large or small indian almond leaves**
A: Depends on the size of your tank. I would by the large if your tank is over 12 gallons. These leaves are great. You can also break the larger ones as well. Hope this helps. :)

Pour ma part j'apprécie ce produit car il permet d'obtenir tous les avantages de la catappa dans un format pratique et à un bon rapport qualité prix. This piece of nature is great for fish and the snails will clean it right up when it starts to fade away. Its gods wonder. Bettas do really well with these leaves.
