Review: Great Alternative - This Fellow Prismo filter/flow control cap combo is a great alternative to the AeroPress Flow Control. Here's why; The flow control cap and the stainless steel micro filter come together for a cost savings. The cap doesn't leak when I'm pushing the plunger to extract the coffee, which sometimes happens with the AeroPress. And it performs just as well, keeping the hot water and coffee grounds in the cylinder until I'm ready to push the plunger. My coffee tastes just as great as when I use the AeroPress product. No down side, this is my daily use flow control cap now. Note for paper filter users; The stainless steel micro filter is imbedded in the gasket that creates the seal between the cap and the AeroPress body. Would that affect the fit of a paper filter? I don't know. I don't use paper filters, but if I can dig some up I'll test it out.
Review: Awesome find, even though it’s overpriced. - One of my roommates bought one of the prismo attachments at our old house and I used it for a year. When I moved out, I tried to use the normal aeropress filter for a week, and ended up caving & buying a prismo because I love this thing so much. If you’re a big aeropress user this is a must. See below for my cons and pros. Cons: PRICE! Although I think it’s totally worth the money, this costs the same amount as the actual Aeropress. I get it’s a small company, but I would have liked to have paid $15, maybe $20 max for this. Fit. I have had my Aeropress for 3 years and it’s an older model. I can’t fully lock in this attachment without man handling it (it appears to be slightly too large for the groove) and so if there’s a lot of pressure in the aeropress, it’ll start to bubble coffee out of the cracks. Not a huge deal and I’m sure it has to do with the age of my aeropress. PROS: No Mess!: unlike the normal aeropress filter attachment that always seems to cause a total mess (I hope it’s not just me??), you can actually sit the aeropress upright without a cup under it with the prismo attachment on and nothing will come out until you push down the aeropress plunger. Stronger espresso- like coffee: I add in the equivalent of a scoop and a half using the aeropress scoop of finely ground coffee into the aeropress and I fill the aeropress about halfway with water. Then I stir it, and wait a few minutes while I heat up oat milk and it makes a super good latte. I am sure a coffee snob would not agree with how I use this but I like strong coffee / espresso and this seems to work. It also tastes slightly less acidic maybe? Way cheaper than buying an espresso machine! Durable: I used the prismo along with three coffee-drinking roommates every day for a year and it still looked the same as day one after that period of time and still functioned great. Reusable Filter: awesome quality, reusable filter. I think aeropress should partner with this brand and offer this as an add on with the aeropress. Even if you get it just to make your coffee making process less messy or for the reusable filter, It’s a great product and despite the price, I would recommend!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Where do I get cups that fit the inside? Does it come with the Prismo?**
A: You just have to test out what you have in your cabinet. Just like with the original filter for Aeropress. You can also use the funnel that it comes with if your cup or glass is too narrow.

**Q: Is there a secret to getting the filter out easily? With the paper filter, I just plunged the filter and grounds into the trash. Can't do that now.**
A: After brewing, turn the cap all the way to the right but don't lift or remove it. Then pull the plunger back just slightly. If you use a paper filter along with the cap, the filter and grounds will pop away clean and you can dump them in the trash like before. That's basically the trick, break the seal but leave some suction when you pull the plunger back.

**Q: Can you use other metal filters in this as well?**
A: Unfortunately not. The metal filter has a rubber gasket that allows it to seal with the Aeropress. We plan on developing more filter types soon!

**Q: Can I use the metal filter of this with original Aeropress basket?**
A: interesting question. it seems to fit but I don't really know how perfect of a fit it is and maybe coffee might leak around the rubber gasket. But it does really work great with it's own basket which has a small one way valve and it acts kind of like a squirt gun and makes a focused stream that is much like that of an espresso machine . Also it's a rather pricey experiment to try, there are some low cost metal filters out there.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rich, delicious brew at home!
*by R***7 on October 9, 2024*

I purchased the Prismo filter with attachment to use with my AeroPress, to make sure that the coffee stays put once I pour hot water in/stir, until I’m ready to extract using the plunger attachment. I think it goes without saying that owning an AeroPress means I’d like the best tasting coffee I can make at home, and the Prismo attachment helps elevate the AeroPress. With the attachment that came with the AeroPress, a portion of the coffee would end up in the cup right away since it had multiple holes at the bottom (so, after pouring water to line 4, the coffee would reach around line 3 before I’d use the plunger attachment to extract.) It still tasted good, but with a coffee press, you’d think the coffee should have more time to brew beforehand. I originally purchased the alternate AeroPress attachment that has the same function as the Prismo, minus the stainless steel filter, and even after washing, putting it on the top rack of the dishwasher, and even submerging it in warm water with baking soda for at least an hour each time, and then using the paper filter, I’d end up with a chemical perfume taste that leached into the coffee from the plastic, making me unable to drink anything past a sip. After making a few cups of coffee to try to get the scent to dissipate, I realized I’d have to return it (maybe I received a defective product.) Anyhow, I decided to purchase the Prismo attachment plus metal filter instead, based on reviews, and it does not disappoint. I have used it with just the metal filter and it works fine, but my preferred way is to put the metal filter first, then a paper filter on top of it, just to help make clean up easier. It works great either way, and allows for a very rich, flavorful cup of coffee. I use water heated to 194 degrees on a temperature controlled electric kettle—if you don’t have one, I’d recommend using water that hasn’t quite reached boiling point, or boiling water and allowing it to sit for a few minutes first. This way, coffee ends up with a smoother flavor. If you’re a coffee enthusiast, looking for a way to make even AeroPress coffee taste better than it already does, this is for you!
