## Description

Product description Comparison Products Cat 8 Shielded Keystone Cat 6A Shielded Keystone Easy Crimp Tool Cat 6A Ethernet Cable Blank Patch Panel Cat 6A Termination Plug

Review: Good, Reliable Connectors for Fat SFTP Cable - Over the past 5 years I've installed well over 100 of these keystone jacks, all on 22 or 23 AWG Cat 7 or 8 SFTP cable, and I'm having trouble remembering ever having one of these fail to work (though I have miswired a couple, it takes some work to get them back open to fix that). While dealing with shielded cable with foil-wrapped pairs always requires a bit of fiddling, getting the connector on once the fiddling is done is quick and simple. Beyond the cable stripper the only tools required are a pair of flush cutter pliers and, if you aren't strong enough to squeeze the shell closed with your fingers (I'm not), something to do that; I invested in the Cable Matters tool for this but vice grips work just fine too. I do find that the foil strip included with the connector is a bit too small so I cut my own from a roll of 1/2" 3M 1181 instead. Last, I'll just note that with all the cables I've used these on so far the 568B wiring has been a slightly better match for the cap arrangement (the wires come out of the cable exactly where you want them for 568B at one end and just one crossover at the other), though that depends on how the cable manufacturer arranges the colors and I don't know if they all do it the same. In my experience these are really nice connectors that install easily and work well. I usually use a Fluke tester to verify newly-installed links and I don't recall ever having one that didn't pass for the tester's 10GBaseT maximum and the POE test. It may be that these connectors work less well with smaller wire sizes and/or thinner insulation, though.
Review: Works flawlessly - beware, don't close them unless you're finished - I loved these keystone's, I bought a few for some Cat 8 drops I did in my house with a spool of CableMatters' Entegrade Cat 8 cable. Not only were these super easy to put together, but they are working perfectly without much technical background. Full speeds achieved as verified by iperf3. One interesting thing is be careful closing them or fussing with them before your cable is ready, they are super hard to open once closed. I was playing with one before I even had a cable to connect it to and I accidentally closed it and had to use wrenches to open it back up!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is there a specific Cat8 wall plate manufactured for these? I am specifically looking for a wider plate with one port. Thank you**
A: The plates and panels are rated for up to cat-7. With the cat-8 jacks, you just have to work them in.

**Q: Will these fit side by side horizontally and vertically in a Cable Matters wall plates such as the 6 position 180085x10 or 3 position 180083x10?**
A: I'm using them in 2 position plates at the moment, but when I checked against my 6 position plates it looks like it should work.

**Q: If i run a cat 8 eth. cable do i need a cat8 plug or can i just use a rj45 connection?**
A: Cat 8 refers to the data transmission quality of the cable and its male ends(plugs) and the quality of the female jack. I am not aware of any Ethernet connection type besides RJ-45 for Cat 8. As along as cable and jack are listed/rated as Cat 8 you will get optimum data transmission (i.e. speed). Any Ethernet cable and mating jacks that are RJ-45 configured will be mechanically compatible. For example, mixing Cat 5 with Cat 8 may lower the maximum data transmission speed below Cat 8.

**Q: Are these compatible with cat 7a 23awg cable without the loss of mhz?**
A: It's rated for Cat which is 1000mhz , I'm not exactly sure on how to test frequency of copper . I'd say do your research . There are a few sites to look at . One of which i recommend is FS.com I got my Cat8 Stranded Patch Cable there to use with my Cat7a Soild Cable .

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great and very robust.
*by K***B on January 2, 2026*

These Cat 8 keystones work great and are very high quality. After installing a couple of times on the ends of my Cat 8 shielded cables I got the technique down. While it says no tools required, I found I couldn't snap the keystones closed with my fingers but found that channel lock pliers worked great. Having enough extra length of twisted pairs really helped when trying to work each wire into its proper slot.
