RV application, 2-6volt batteries, 1-100 watt panel.** A: Yes, as long as installation is not too close to batteries and the area is vented to avoid potential gassing / corrosion issues. And to allow for proper temperature sensing if the unit has only a built in sensor the controller should be is the same area as the batteries. **Q: Does this unit alternate voltage based on battery temperature?** A: The charger will compensate for temperature based on it's internal sensor, essentially gauging the local environment's temperature. An option Smart Battery Sense can be attached to the battery for true battery temperature. Those are new and in short supply, but should be fully available by the end of June, 2018. **Q: what is the difference between smart solar and blue solar?** A: The single difference between them is that the SmartSolar MPPTs have Bluetooth built-in so that you can monitor and configure them through the VictronConnect smartphone app. The BlueSolar MPPTs do *not* have the Bluetooth built-in; you can use a VE.Direct to Bluetooth Dongle to achieve the same functionality, but the cost of a SmartSolar ends up a little less (typically) than a BlueSolar MPPT +a VE.Direct to Bluetooth Dongle, so it usually makes more sense to order the SmartSolar. You would need enough panels in series to have more than 48V. Built in Bluetooth and app is great.Manual is okay but do your research on meanings of certain functions such as absorption. The MPPT seems to draw from the solar only what it needs which is clever and regulates the power. I had a fridge, 1000W Inverter running and charging 2 phones and MPPT was brilliant see 100W PHOTO. It drew power from the solar to supply what was being used and maintained the float charge very clever. You got to get one they are ace but a bit pricey. Update- I posted a question about this item about why my battery voltage (12.73v) at the controller was different to the battery voltage with a voltmeter (12.3v). Through some research it is because the cable between the controller and the battery terminals is to thin. So I put in thicker cable and it has worked perfectly. Both the voltmeter readings and the controller readings are exactly the same so now i know what state of charge the batteries are at.
