Does it also close completely?** A: Yes it can be removed, and push it down to seal like a plug, it’s very good **Q: Will this fit a 53mm diameter sink hole? It’s the one dimension not detailed on the supplied graphic…** A: I would say yes, looking at the dimension listed at the top of the last picture. **Q: What size of trap fits? I have tried a 11/2" compression fitting but the collar is far too big** A: Hi. I certainly used a standard 40mm waste trap when I fitted this item into a customer’s kitchen. Just to check, you need to fit a trap to this such as a bottle trap or P or S trap. As a plumber I recommend buying McAlpine fittings, they’re worth the extra cost for reliability. **Q: What size flexible hose should I buy to screw onto the 1.5" threaded outlet of this Waste kit?** A: The flexible hose length will depend on the distance to your outlet pipe. I bought mine from screw fix and connected to the McAlpine double sink kit bought on Amazon. ## Frequently Bought Together - Mcalpine 85mm Chrome Belfast Sink Basket Strainer Waste Kit MBSWSS85-90 - EVO-STIK Plumber's Mait, Non-Setting Putty for Sanitary Joints, Permanant Flexibility, Waterproof, 750g - McAlpine Belfast Sink Waste with C Plug & Chain Part NO BSW6CP2H by Mcalpine --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.gr/products/61029944-mcalpine-85mm-chrome-belfast-sink-basket-strainer-waste-kit-mbswss85](https://www.desertcart.gr/products/61029944-mcalpine-85mm-chrome-belfast-sink-basket-strainer-waste-kit-mbswss85) --- *Product available on Desertcart Greece* *Store origin: GR* *Last updated: 2026-10-16*
