Both arrived rolled up but flattened out easily after following the included instructions: unroll and then roll in the opposite direction. To help the edges settle, I placed heavy books overnight, which did the trick. The mats are transparent, allowing the wood flooring beneath to remain visible. On slick floors, the mat may shift slightly; however, the newer version included double-sided tape. I applied it to the top corners, and it has effectively kept the mat in place. The bottom surface of the mat is smooth, while the top has a subtle texture. My office chair glides easily across it, providing a comfortable and functional workspace. Overall, the Kuyal mat is a solid choice for protecting wood floors without sacrificing aesthetics or movement.

The mat moves - I've used it without the two-sided tape and with the tape, and on hardwood (laminate) flooring, the mat shifts under the chair. Not only does it drift to one corner, but it also bunches up in the middle. I have yet to find a solution for this, as it only got worse once I decided to try the two-sided tape. Now, I have to deal with stickiness on the floor because when the mat pulls away, it releases the tape, leaving it on the floor. I didn't have any issues with it unrolling flat like others have mentioned and the size is perfect for under my chair and desk. Just wish it would stay put!
