You have to pull up your gear by hand and then use the handle to retract the line. **Q: How Strong? I'm concerned by the word "ribbon." We don reel the handle we pull the strap it self. We really like it because the strap don't tangle like a rope. **Q: Why not just use my dog's retractable leash?** A: You could use your dog leash, but it will be loud and bulky in the woods. one thing you need to know is that this does not retract automatically.
