This means it has 4 each, 1gb ports that you can plug wired Ethernet devices into. It doesn’t mean 4 *times* device capacity. **Q: Can netgear 4-stream ax1800 be used as an access point with a nighthawk r7900p router?** A: Dont know of the r7900 functionality. but you could jack in to the router thru a wire connection to make adjustments. Or use the NETGear Nighthawk app and to do the same. But if wanted to go the long way using wifi thru the ax1800 into the r7900 it is possible with the Nighthawk app. **Q: There is an R6700AX router for $90 and a R6700AXS for $70. I'm getting download speeds of 40Mbps 45+ feet away through 2 walls and average 90 to 220 Mbps download speed throughout a 1,500 sq ft one level house. I'm a software engineer, but I have better things to do than wasting time tinkering with router settings. This little guys does 90% of the work right off the box. Best features: - Only one WiFi name, the router automatically switches between 2.4 and 5 G depending on signal strength. I like simple, and Netgear really delivered. - Easy to configure DHCP zones so that devices with a fixed IP (like printers, media servers, etc.) are left alone with no conflicts. - Price point is excellent for this level of quality. - Good QoS (quality of service) feature to prioritize audio/video. Advice: make sure to reboot your cable modem after you configured the router for best performance.
