Review: Best pre-packaged mass-marketed ground coffee in the US - When I go to the major coffee/espresso-drinking countries, like Finland, Italy and Spain, I go packaged-gourd-coffee-shopping-spree like it’s 1929 because the packaged coffee in the US are generally either pretty bad or inconsistent. Yet, while I love coffee, I don’t like the process of grinding beans (or the mess it creates) and I just don’t have time to be going to specialty coffee stores frequently to buy the beans. Of the packaged coffees mass marketed in the US, this one has definitely been the best. It has consistently been pretty good. Cafe Bustelo comes close, but I somehow find it to be a bit inconsistent (e.g., sometimes, it takes like twigs or maybe pebbles...not that I’ve tasted such things), and brewing illy, in my experience, has been a bit tricky (e.g., can get really bitter if you don’t hit that “sweet spot”). This product, on the other hand, has been consistent and easy to brew.

**Q: is there any artificial flavoring?**
A: Yes.  I'm sure.

**Q: please what is the EXP date?**
A: At the bottom right on back of bag shows "Best Before" date. These are sealed bags of coffee. EXP date means to use by that date. I believe the coffee is still good after the date.

**Q: Are the beans oily?**
A: I have a Superautomatic that cannot take really oily beans - but though these have a sheen, the work fine. I'm very picky about my coffee - only rich and dark will do - and these are delicious. I can't find dark whole beans in the supermarket, so it's great that Amazon sells them here at the supermarket price. Vacuum sealed, with a long expiration date. I'm about to order my third bag.

**Q: Some customers complained that the coffee they bought was past the date on the bag. Is there any way to ensure that I will get fresh coffee?**
A: I never bought an out of date bag from Seattles Best. The reviews I saw said by the time the buyer gets to use the 3 bags they bought they are out of date. Big difference. Dont buy so much that it sits till it expires. Its like bread. You cant buy 3 loaves and 2 weeks later wonder why the 3rd loaf is stale. GOOD coffee doesnt have a 6 month shelf life.

It is a great coffee with flavor. I prepare coffee in various ways; Drip, Pour Over and Moka Pot. In all three instances, i have had favorable cups of coffee. The start is good, you are not overwhelmed with Hazelnut flavor. It is just right. There are no other flavors accompanying this blend. It is a good medium roast, which has Toasted undertones flavor you get with the light Hazelnut flair is a great combo. it pairs well with sweeteners and cream. I recommend this blend for anyone looking for another flavor of "everyday" coffee.
