As ever for supplements for which there are no Recommended Daily Amounts it is often hard to make direct comparisons with other products on the market; there are hugely varying amounts in different manufacturer's products (on Amazon, for Milk Thistle, this ranges from less than 4,000mg all the way up to 24,000mg, with the latter recommending two tablets a day, or a whopping 48,000mg). Then most manufacturers tell you not to exceed "their" recommended dosage! Eh? How does that work?Thus what dosage is right or safe for you is left entirely up to you (with the usual caveat that you should consult your doctor first if you're pregnant, ill etc).To confuse things further, some products highlight their product's plant equivalent content weight, others the extract weight. Generally speaking, though, what is advertised - as is the case here - is the dose you would get from the plant in unconcentrated, powdered form - the plant equivalent content weight, ie 4,000mg. This has been concentrated down in a ratio of 40:1, making for smaller pills but giving you the same benefits.So for this review I'm going to concentrate on value for money per original, unconcentrated plant dose, all other things being equal. You'll then have to decide what dosage you want and work out whether this is the pill for you. Personally, I like to take 4,000mg per day, so these are right up my street.At the time of review this packet of 300 pills, with a recommended dosage of 1 pill = 4,000mg, was selling for £7.39, meaning that your daily dose will set you back 2.5p. This is the best value I've found so far on Amazon; the best near equivalent was 5,000mg at 6p per day. So if it's straight up milk thistle at 4,000mg you want, it's an immediate thumbs up from me.There are other liver support tablets out there which, alongside milk thistle, include things like artichoke and dandelion, so if you want those I'd still begin with the price of these tablets as a good starting point and then work out how much you want to pay for those extra ingredients.

Effective - good way to get the effects of Milk Thistle

The tablets themselves seem fine. The packaging pouch however was a but of a pain to open because it was heat sealed all the way beyond the zip-lock seal ... it's a small issue though and likely I got a rare oddly sealed pouch. It does mean that I cannot re-seal the pouch though, but again that's ok.The actual packaging otherwise is very professional and well labelled, giving clear amounts of ingredients and instructions for taking them. Milk thistle is claimed to have many benefits for your liver and kidneys. I'm not allowed to re-state those benefits here, but there are many resources out on the www that will tell you, go and have a read around somewhere reputable.What I can say from personal experience with these tablets is that they gave me zero after-taste and were easy to swallow. I can't imagine many folk having an issue with taking these unless you have very significant problems swallowing pills. I barely even notice I'm taking them, just swallow with a small gulp of water.

Found dosage to be higher than others recommended. Wrote to company to question but reply was either AI or someone who doesn't know the answer. Reluctant to take until verification given, obviously can't return product.

Good tablets, great values, easy to swallow and are good value for the amount you get.

I had to cut the packet open to get the capsules out as the ziplock was glued shut. Other than that, I found the capsules to be very easy to swallow with no nasty aftertaste. Not sure if I'm feeling any benefits yet but time will tell.
