## Overview

The Garmin Descent™ Mk3i is a premium dive computer and multisport GPS smartwatch featuring a vibrant 1.4” AMOLED display, 200-meter water resistance, and a titanium case. It offers advanced SubWave sonar for diver communication and tank monitoring, multi-band GPS for precise surface navigation, and a dive readiness tool that factors in your lifestyle metrics. Beyond diving, it supports comprehensive health tracking, sports apps, contactless payments, and music, making it the ultimate wearable for professional divers and active millennials seeking safety, style, and smart connectivity.

## Description

Discover a deeper connection with the Descent™ Mk3i watch-style dive computer. It features multiple dive modes plus SubWave™ sonar technology for diver-to-diver communication via preset messages (available with software v.15.70 or later). The device also supports monitoring of tank pressures and depth for up to eight networked divers, when paired with the Descent™ T2 transceiver (sold separately). A built-in LED flashlight keeps you going in low-light conditions, above or below water. Purpose-built specifically for divers, the Descent Mk3i dive computer combines a bright 1.4” AMOLED display with scratch-resistant sapphire lens, 200-meter dive-rated case and metal leakproof inductive buttons. DiveView™ maps offer bathymetric depth contours and more than 4,000 dive sites to help you find where to dive and get oriented. Plus, a dive readiness tool, developed by Garmin, shows how lifestyle factors such as sleep, exercise, stress and jet lag can affect your body’s overall preparedness for diving — so, ultimately, you can make better-informed dive plan decisions (data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked). This dive computer is designed to help maximize your preparation for the physical and mental challenges of diving. When you’re ashore, built-in sports apps help you stay on top of your fitness, while Garmin Pay™ contactless payments, music storage and smart notifications keep you connected (compatible smartphone required).

Review: Great Multi-Purpose Device - This is a great dive computer if you want a device that you can also use for activities other than diving. It is bright and very readable under water, and you can customize the different screens to suit your needs. My main complaint is that you have to remember to manually start a “dive” activity if you want it to capture your GPS coordinates before the dive, and I haven’t been able to get it to capture the coordinates at the end of dives (perhaps I just need to hold it out of the water or set the end dive delay for longer so that it ends when I’m back on the boat). If you start a dive without manually selecting the activity, the watch will automatically go into dive mode… it just won’t have gotten the GPS position beforehand. Your data syncs to the Garmin Dive app, which is okay but could be better. Annoyingly, it seems to save data to the cloud, not to your device, so you need an internet connection to view your dive log. As an out-of-water watch, it’s a little bulky but not out of line with Garmin’s higher end sports watches. I’ve used it for walking, running, swimming, and sleep tracking. It comes with regular length straps for normal wear as well as a longer strap for diving, and it’s really easy to snap them on and off to change between the two. Garmin also offers a large line up of different colors and styles. It’s relatively easy to customize the watch face designs and add / remove data. Battery life is respectable.
Review: High-Performance Dive Watch with Unmatched Versatility and Safety Features - I recently took the Mk3i with me to the Philippines for diving, and it exceeded my expectations. The battery life is outstanding, and it performed flawlessly during my SCUBA dives. I paired it with the wireless air pod for my tank, which allowed me to monitor my air supply or track a less experienced diver—an excellent safety feature, even though the pods are a bit pricey. I opted for the larger model with a built-in flashlight, which I initially thought I wouldn’t use but now rely on all the time. The red light mode is especially useful for staying visible when walking on dark streets at night. With so many features packed into this watch, it’s a top-tier dive computer and more. The only small downside is that the buttons can be too easily pressed, but it's not a deal-breaker. If you can invest in it, I highly recommend it for its versatility, durability, and safety-enhancing features.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceeded my expectations when I upgraded from a MK1
*by R***T on July 21, 2025*

I’ve had a Mk1 which has served me well. This watch has a bigger, brighter screen, and so many more features. Wear it scuba, golf (excellent) and road biking. Best is the morning health report!
