I've been to Russia 12 times and married a Russian, now that I'm retired with more time, I'm reviewing what I learned. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect Prep for Russian Travel! *by P***T on Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2013* My husband and I each used a Learn Russian in Ten Minutes A Day workbook for just a month before a trip to Russia and it doubled our enjoyment of our trip!It gave us the ability to read Russian well enough that my husband and I could depart from our escorted river tour, and take a public bus (the right one!), transfer to the Metro, get on and off at the right stations......so that in addition to the half-day tour of the Hermitage offered by our tour, we were able to take off on our own to spend an additional 2 days at the museum and see wonderful things that the average Russian tourist has no time for.On tours through Moscow, St.Petersburg, etc. we could read the billboards, protest posters, storefront signs, and all those little things that give human insight in addition to what you are hearing from the official tour guide.The book is well designed to accomodate adult learning principles. I could not believe how well these simple and often entertaining exercises worked! Yes, I did use the stickers on my stuff; they were a great vocabulary aid. Yes, I did use the flash cards and other included tools and references. Learning is supposed to be fun, folks....and this was! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good supplemental study tool. *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2002* For anyone who wants to begin learning Russian, I wouldn't recommend relying on this book exclusively - you've got to have some language tapes or other means of aural study - but it makes for a nice compliment to more traditional texts. Of course, the "10 minutes a day" concept is silly. However, when study time comes around,I find myself turning to this book more than any other, especially when I only have a little time to study or when I've had a particularly draining day and don't feel up to more serious endeavors. The stickers are great, and I've found the pronunciations to be pretty accurate. It is a definite flaw that they don't show you the stressed vowels, but the individual pronunciations do account for the differences between stressed and unstressed vowels.
