I have a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle. On my OBD2 Scanner, I was getting code P0171 which meant the engine was running lean on fuel compared to air/oxygen it was receiving. The car was getting horrible fuel milage because the car's computer was overcompensating the excessive oxygen with additional unnecessary fuel. The car was also sporadically randomly misfiring. I though I had a bad oxygen sensors (upper and lower) and I also thought I may have bad spark plugs. Every time I visually inspected this hose (the old one on the car), it looked fine. However, when I decided to actually remove it to physically inspect it, it fell apart in the process of removing it. I bought this new replacement hose. Installing it was easier than removing the old one. After installing it and clearing the code with my OBD2 scanner, the car ran like new. I no longer had a code. I no longer had random misfires and my fuel economy shot up. Further, the car passed smog and I was able to register it. Review: Fits well but - If you get this for your beetle, try putting a little bar soap around the part that connects to the brake booster. It is super hard to press fit into place. With engine idling, hood open take about a 3' piece of old garden hose, one end to your ear, other end to the hose/pipe and "listen" for a hissing sound, particularly at the ends where the fittings/connectors are.
