Review: Excellent value and performance. - Excellent. Bought to rip through my collection of commercial DVDs as I'm bringing everything together on a home media centre. My M1 iMac (2022) recognised the device straight away - truly "plug and play", no drivers or other installations needed - and it surprised me by opening the first DVD with a DVD Player app that I didn't even know I had! Make MKV also recognised the drive - no problem. It's a time-consuming process - but only because of the technology limitations of working with a physical disc. Make MKV's files then get transcoded through Handbrake into much smaller H265 MP4 files. Yes, the tiny drive feels rather fragile, but if you support the slide-out tray with one hand underneath it each time you handle a disc, I'm hoping it will be OK. For the price (I paid around £25) it's amazing. Well pleased.

Very light weight. Tested with Macbook M4 Air on OS 26.3 and it was plug and play with both DVDs and CDs and an adapter on each end of the Anker USB-A to Micro cable I already had as I want to use this as part of my travel kit. An update to USB-C would be welcome modernisation. So entirely meets expectations, except that 'silver' is more like ... grey stripes on black, for which -1*. This will not match your Mac. Full marks for form factor and performance as tested.
