Boiler fired properly when upstairs heating was called for so suspected it was the valve issue as the downstairs got hot still as the downstairs valve was set open. Unscrewed the Motorised part and it was not spinning, when activated. I discovered that the boiler will only activate if the motorised part actually reaches an open position. New installation took just 10mins and no need to drain the system. Beats the excessive £550 quote I got for the repair!
