But, they are really great. They are by no means “heavy” but they are also not too light. The board works great with the two major chess sites. With the app, or with a chrome browser extension called “Chessconnect” The app is also great by itself. It lets you take a picture of a chess image and import it into the engine, which makes reading chess books so much easier. No need to set the pieces up on the board, but you can do so(or with their other product, it will move the pieces to the proper squares). The only downside is they don’t yet allow you to turn off the very obnoxious beep when you disconnect from Bluetooth or when you are offline and go to save the game to internal memory. Hoping they fix this soon. It’s large, of course. I have a piece of felt under it to allow me to rotate the board easily. Sometimes it is hard to see what piece to move. Not because the LEDs are not bright, but because of the pieces are off centers they may block the light. Not a big deal, until you are in time pressure! Review: Perfect - No flaws in the wood that I can find and the electronics work perfectly. I love the online play, chess.com is way more enjoyable OTB. Cannot recommend it highly enough. ## Features - 🪵FULL-SIZE HANDCRAFTED WOODEN CHESSBOARD - Chessnut Pro features a wooden board and wooden sensor pieces. The board recognizes and tracks each move you make. **Q: Why are there marks on the board where the chess pieces were placed?** A: Chessboard Wood naturally darkens through oxidation. Areas covered by chess pieces receive less air and may darken more slowly, causing temporary color differences. Store the pieces separately when not in use. **Q: Are the chess pieces hand-carved?** A: Yes. The chess pieces are hand-carved, so slight variations are part of their individual character. **Q: Why can't I connect to Bluetooth?** A: Enable GPS on your phone, the BLE connection relies on GPS,then allow location access for the Chessnut app.Do not pair the board in your phone settings. In the app,tap the Bluetooth icon to connect.Make sure the blue LED flashes;press Power if needed. **Q: How do I save and export an over-the-board game?** A: In OTB Mode,a standard starting position begins recording automatically. For another position, press "+" to start and press "+" again to end. Connect to the iOS/PC/MacOs Chessnut app to upload saved OTB games; then cleared from the board. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice wooden set and perfect way to play online chess. *by D***. on September 29, 2025* I have a very fancy heavily weighted wooden chess set and was concerned that the standard wooden Chessnut pieces would be disappointing.
