Retired US Army and very hard on any footwear. I’ve spend hundreds on a single pair without apology. Without a doubt they have all been inferior to these. The ankle support is perfect and not too tight, comfy arch support, not too hard and not sloppy. The traction is outstanding on a variety of surfaces, including pavement, terrain, finished surfaces and wet surfaces. I haven’t used them too much on ice, but the few times I’ve worn these on icy pavement, they’ve gripped perfectly well. Typical tactical operations at average pace are no concern, nor is aggressive movement over rough terrain, these boots check every box.
