Bought these water sensor alarms after I had a couple of flooding incidents in a row in the basement of my house. I placed one of these by the floor drain and the other next to the sump pit. They work as described and are great for peace of mind. The alarm sounds similar to that of a smoke detector, and is loud enough to hear when I'm not in my basement. The alarm immediately turns itself off when taken out of the water source.
