My memory is that they ate live food, e.g. brine shrimp. If you can get them to eat this, it should sustain them. **Q: Will this work with Beta Fish?** A: No, it would release way too much food for a betta. Plus this is a terrible fish feeder. It ruined my tank. I recommend! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works *by M***N on August 14, 2026* Kept our fish alive while we were on vacation! ### ⭐ Only good for goldfish *by L***Ó on July 20, 2026* We have 1 female beta, 2 corys, 2 dojos and 5 nerite snails in our 38 gallon tank. I bought this vacation feeder once before when we also had 1 goldfish in our tank. That previous disc was consumed while we traveled, I thought by everyone. Fast forward, goldfish had a fatal encounter inside the tree & I never replaced it because… trash fish. We were going out of town 6/29-7/5 so I ordered this disc again. I also had one of those white shell-shaped vacation feeders I found buried in the fish cabinet, so I put that in the tank, too. Today is July 20th. The disc remains untouched. It’s been almost a month! Ironically, while I was trying to get a video of the disc, one of the corys swam right over it without even stopping. I’ve been checking on this food every day since we returned home in the hopes that the snails would perhaps eat it, but they’re not interested either. Nobody in my tank likes this vacation food, however the white shell vacation food was completely consumed within the week we were gone. I feel bad, now realizing my fish were starving last time we went away. I’ll be picking this disc out of the tank & putting it in the trash because it’s literally nothing more than fodder for algae. P.S.
