I need it to lift something about 6 inches off the floor. Will this slide under that?** A: This product has an adjustable length range of 53" - 93" . It is intended to support , not actually lift . To lift you need a FLOOR JACK which generally requires 3 1/2 - 4" of clearance to get under something (beam? ) to do the lifting. Once the correct height is established an adjustable FLOOR POST or Mini LALLY column will hold the (beam?) in position at the desired height. the shortest floor posts usually adjust from about 12 to 16 inches and if you want a lower clearance you're going to have to get some pressure treated 4X4 or 6 X 6 posts and cut to size for the support piece. A specialty building supply retailer may be willing to cut a lally column to size for you ( a lally column is usually 8'-10') and provide several pieces to size. I'm not sure exactly what you want to do and how knowledgeable you are about building and construction so I'll leave it at that . **Q: Can you actually adjust this pole to 7 feet 9 inches?** A: I just received two of these. If assembled per instructions, with the telescoping tubes set to the maximum height, using two sets of holes, at maximum extension of the screw, it will reach 7'-9". Not sure why one respondent simply said, "no." Perhaps he was referring to a different model. **Q: How many in quantity (4 or 8) in the Four-pack option? If 4 then why is it more expensive? $377/4=$94 > $76 each** A: I only needed three. However, I would image like anything else with a higher volume of product the cost per unit goes down. **Q: what are the sizes of the holes in the top and bottom plates? Trying to figure out what screws would be needed to fasten them. Thank you** A: I was working with wood framing and the jacks were only used for upward support so did not need to use any screws for the plates. The plates have a short raised center that fits inside the pipes. There are 4 1/4 inch holes at each corner of the plates. I have others as they hold up an outside shed roof. Little oil and care they are fine. I need the adjustment for weather change. Probably not designed for outdoor use but been holding up the roof for over 20 yrs. Littlt oil and paint keeps them healthy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good quality *by D***N on March 7, 2025* Perfect for what it's intended for ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ it's good value, but not the best quality *by J***J on June 17, 2024* To make it clear: I'm pretty happy with the product overall. It's about the cheapest option out there and it's plenty strong, just be ready to get what you paid for. The two concentric tubes are plenty strong, the holes for locking bolts are evenly spaced, no problem there. A mildly annoying thing, when you want to switch from a short operation to a long operation, you have to turn the inner tube upside down because it isn't drilled throughout its length. No biggie. Just a feature.The top piece: the threaded rod had its thread dinged up. Not sure if that happened in shipping, or what, but the nut wouldn't travel all the way through. had to use a 60deg triangular file to fix the thread where it was binding. Interestingly enough: I bought 4 jacks and all 4 had this issue. Took about 10min total to file all 4.Lastly: the flat plates to put under and over the jack to distribute load: they are way too thin. Looks like 11 gauge (~1/8"). For the bottom piece it doesn't matter that much because the dimple fits inside the tube. However, the threaded rod on top provides a highly concentrated load on that plate, bending the "dimple" inside out, so only on the first lift you have it working nicely. Ever after you have the center of the threaded rod hit the load on top first, and as you turn it and start picking up load, it will "walk" around, which is annoying. But again: that's really the only truly annoying thing. The initial filing of the threads or having to flip the inner tube... that's really nothing.I thought I would have to use a hydraulic jack and a 4x4 to lift the floor and only use these jacks as adjustable stands. I was pleasantly surprised that with a ~12" long 7/8" wrench I was able to create enough lift to do the whole job without a hydraulic jack. I will be using these jacks for a few more projects and I'm happy with the value.
