Review: crap - Possibly the most useless item i have ever spent this ridiculous amount of money on! I have it a year now and the grand total or rodents killed..... one mouse, yet the rats seem to do a conga past it! Not sure what the so called "coconut scented" bait is supposed to attract, but its not rats here in Ireland. I have replaced the bait with peanut butter and more recently with bacon. The rats now have established a whole chorus line now and quite possibly heating to broadway with their show.....but they are singularly refusing to go near it! UPDATE: First rat killed today 19/12/20 and i put it down to just recently replacing bait with....wait for it....custard from a carton! I accidently found out that this is like catnip for ye olde rodents. When the trap enters the trap, it puts its head into a small tunnel (5cm in diameter), inside the tunnel there is a trigger the rat touches. The rat is then despatched via a plastic, castellated bolt that strikes the rodent on the head, the rodent is despatched instantly and humanely. The rat then drops from the trap, the trap then resets itself, able to despatch 24 rodents per cylinder. The rodents that have been deapatched can then be scavenged by predators such as foxes, kites, buzzards, badgers, etc; without risk of secondary poisoning. **Q: How loud is this when it kills the rat?** A: As I recall, it is like a spring loaded bolt rather than an explosive sound. I know it works in NZ but I have not managed to kill any yet. **Q: Are these safe to use in the loft?** A: They would be but they don't work I've had one for 2 years and has yet to kill anything. I have made sure my scent isn't on it, changed the feed to attract and nothing. Conventional traps have caught 11 rats so far. I have followed the instructions and have done everything to encourage rats to use them but zilch.
