I had the previous metal weighing plate model that went on for years. Although it's easier that you don't need to find something that just fits on part of the scale, the fact that it's very light and plastic makes it feel like it won't last. Oh, and be warned, the battery cover is screwed on as well as being a normal battery compartment. It isn't as small as a spectacles/glasses screwdriver but much smaller than a standard screwdriver. As soon as I managed to undo it it went in the bin.
