Bantam HD checks all the boxes for a bino you can trust to keep young minds focused and engaged when hunting, target shooting, scouting on foot, or from the truck. Eyeglass-friendly. Tripod adaptable. Sharper images and solid construction you can feel. Bantam HD delivers a wide field of view, clear glass, 6.5x magnifying power, and simple-to-use controls that make it easier for kids to acquire targets and find distant wildlife fast. It’s optical performance for a new generation, Adjust the Eyecups The Eyecups on Bantam HD twist up and down allowing anyone to obtain a full field of view and comfortable viewing despite differences in facial structure and for use with or without glasses. When not using glasses, generally the Eyecups will be fully extended. When using glasses, generally the Eyecups will be fully collapsed. Adjust the Interpupillary Distance The interpupillary distance (IPD) is the distance between the centers of the left and the right eye pupils. Match the IPD of your eyes to the binocular so that you see a single image free of edge distortion. Rotate the binocular barrels inward or outward to line your eyes up with ocular lenses. Focus the Binocular 1. Adjust the Center Focus –Start by closing your right eye or covering the right Objective Lens with your hand. Look through the left barrel and adjust the Center Focus Wheel until the image is in focus. Leave the Center Focus in position as you adjust the Diopter. 2. Adjust the Diopter – Start by closing your left eye or covering the left Objective Lens with your hand. Look through the right barrel and adjust the Diopter until the image is in focus. Make note of the position of the Diopter setting in case you need to set it again. From this point on, you will only need to use the Center Focus Wheel. Neck Strap 1. Push a few inches of the strap through the Strap Attachment on the binocular. 2. Hold the buckle and thread the end of the strap through the buckle. 3. Adjust the overall length, then pull tight until the strap is secured within the buckle.

Outstanding! - I have been an outdoor educator and bird watcher for over 18 years now, and one of my pet peeves has always been finding decent binoculars at a fair price for youth nature programs. I've worked at places that have bought useless toy binoculars that are worse than using toilet paper tubes, and cheap 10x25 pocket binoculars that have far too narrow a field of view for kids to use, are very dim, and have a tiny exit pupil. Both of these options are useless in the field and can turn kids off to using binoculars entirely. In other jobs in the past I got to research and buy binoculars for kids myself- ultimately going with the Vortex Raptor 8.5x32. These are actually quite good for kids as well, but the porro design makes them a little too big for little hands, they were more prone to damage and didn't feel as solid as I would have liked, and the 8.5 magnification was still a bit much for younger kids to handle. Not to mention the price point is higher than the Bantams. In short, as an outdoor educator working with kids, I have been desperately waiting for someone to make something like these Bantams for YEARS. I got to test a pair in the field yesterday, and I am shocked at the quality for the low price. I compared them side by side with my own 8x32 Sightron Blue Sky II (razor sharp bins that have a cult following), and the Bantams surprisingly held their own- they were sharp, bright, easy to focus, no noticeable chromatic abberation, and they feel like they're built like a tank (build quality was actually superior to the Sightrons as far as I can tell.) If I put on my adult birder/optics nerd hat and had to pick them apart, there was a little bit of a learning curve on getting the exit pupil (image) lined up with my eyes with the eye cups extended fully, and there was a slight "rolling ball" distortion at the edges of the image when scanning the landscape. That being said, I would absolutely take these birding myself and be quite happy with their performance. For adults, these are an awesome pair of car or travel binoculars, or would be excellent for any birders with shaky hands who lose too much sharpness with a 8x or 10x magnification. TLDR: Vortex hit an absolute grand slam for quality, rugged binoculars designed for youth at a price that's well below their performance level. They have no business being this good for the price. Now it's time to work 15-20 pairs into our 2026 budget!

I have been an outdoor educator and bird watcher for over 18 years now, and one of my pet peeves has always been finding decent binoculars at a fair price for youth nature programs. I've worked at places that have bought useless toy binoculars that are worse than using toilet paper tubes, and cheap 10x25 pocket binoculars that have far too narrow a field of view for kids to use, are very dim, and have a tiny exit pupil. These are great binoculars for vacations! I've taken them on several vacations so far and the quality and usability is very good, while still being cheap enough that I won't cry if my kids lose them. They are also great for getting a better look at animals that pass through the yard. Before these I had tried more powerful binoculars but found the high magnification to be disorienting. I've purchased two pairs so far, but might order more.
