Having got them, I think they are worth the money - they have both strong white, and faint coloured lamps inside, and look absolutely stunning set in a fairly modern decor room. The white lights are very bright, so although the unit itself is quite small (about 30cm/12" square) , it lights up the room well. My only gripe is the remote control - well three gripes on the remotes really - first, they are not intuitive or easy to use to select between white, or one of the colours, secondly, they are a little plasticky and flimsy feeling for the quality of the lights themselves, and finally (and this might be a user problem!) I would like to be able to use one remote for both lights, not have to pick one up, and not know which light it will work!
