I used I think a knife to get the old adhesive off the back. I was very careful at that point since you want it to fit back flat. You should also be very careful to get the strips on just so. I would actually start a strip then peel the backing away as I applied it. You have to know that the battery won’t last as long as the original apple battery. But it will work fine. **Q: Is the battery changing hard to do?** A: I ruined the iPad when I attempted this. It worked, but I cracked the screen when I opened it. Then when I tried to checkout the connections, they ripped which also means the whole LCD has to be replaced. The cables connecting the LCD are fragile and they ripped. The cost of a new LCD is more than the iPad was worth. I replaced an iPhone battery successfully, but the iPad was more difficult for me.
