I want to apply this with a sprayer, any idea what application rate I should use per litre of water** A: For your answer its 25g per litre a mixture of 40parts water to 1 part ferrous oxide, 1 litre does 1 meter squared **Q: Would this be suitable for using in a horse paddock to control moss** A: The ferrous sulphate is very fine grain and needs to be dissolved in water. I tried to put it in a dry granular spreader and dumped 20 kg in about 20 seconds! It would be fine for moss in a paddock but only through a liquid or hand sprayer application . It is quite effective once properly applied. **Q: Has anyone tried using ferrous sulphate on a lawn using a hose attachment such as Evergreen use for their "Spray and Feed lawn food"? Used it before and is does a great job of killing moss or greening the lawn up depending on dosage. However when purchasing the product it did not come with a warning that the carrier would be Parcelforce. This turned the whole experience into a nightmare. As usual there must have been some halfhearted attempt to alert me to their presence as I was in. So what do they do, leave a card stating they have delivered it to our local post office in Sherborne where there is no parking for hundred of metres. So as there is no parcel collection point anymore I queue up for 20 minutes amongst the stamp buying OAPs (who are lovely) and hand my card to a slip of a girl who quite rightly can't lift the 20kg bag! After much debate on who is allowed to lift such a weight I get the bag of Ferrous Sulphate given to me to carry down the road and as I said before several hundred metres. Thank you parcelforce. I think at point of ordering you should state the name of the carrier. In most cases the carriers are very good and in some cases exceptional. I found that. the product mixed well with warm water in a plastic bucket and stirred with an old wooden spoon.The moss quickly turned black and the grass recovered almost instantly and now looks very comfortable .It is still to early to judge if I will need to do a second treatment. Area covered so far about a third of an acre.
