It does slow the speed that water drains out of the sink but that doesn't bother me. Very pleased.Edit Oct 2020: Still happy with this. It looks great despite daily use -- no loss of color, no chipping, etc. The rubber splash guard started to wear out a few months ago and I took a chance and bought what's available at the big box stores, Insinkerator model QCB-AM splash guard. Even though it's slightly larger than the original rubber guard, you can get it to fit by working around the edge and pushing it evenly down into the flange. It doesn't sit as low as the original, but it fits and works just fine. The top of the splash guard is still lower than the edge of the flange. It won't rust, crack or peel like so many others do.East to install and looks so nice in my white sink.The only negative is that there is a little bit of a rim between the flange and sink. At times, food gets stuck. However, I just wipe around after I spray some orange cleaner and it is as clean as can be.Glad I found this item and would buy again. I was surprised when I got it and saw it was cheap plastic considering I paid $45 for it. It matched the sink perfectly but the soft rubber thing that stops the big stuff makes the water drain really slow, so it gets backed up. I hate it. You have to put something in the drain to push down the soft rubber thing so the water will drain out of the sink. It’s so stupid. So then I went To buy a new rubber thing but a standard size one is too big. The diameter is smaller so not even the stopper from the garbage disposal fits. The cheap hard plastic thing they sent with it to use as a food catcher/stopper doesn’t even plug the water. I guess they thought that the soft rubber thing backs up the water enough to hand wash ?? I don’t know but a total waste of money and money I want to take it out.
