I do the same for the wood screws I had to use and picked a bit the diameter of the screw, ignoring the threads, that way it was a good pilot hole, but not oversized. **Q: What did people do to cover the camera's wire going down to the outlet?** A: I actually bought this to attach to the changing table, rather than be up on an exposed shelf, moving the wire behind the changing table. The outlet is blocked by the changing table too. Mine is a pretty specific setup, but I tossed the original mount and previously just had it resting on a shelf of the changing table. Our son would naturally move it and I was tired of fixing its positions daily. This was great with all its adjustability and now I have it mounted on the upper-side of the table and out of his reach. **Q: is the middle mount removable? can it be mounted on a tripod mount base?** A: You can purchase a tripod like base.
