I have since used it about 8 other times and the removable inner ash grate is now completely collapsed and fused to the fire pit body making it difficult to clean. The screen mesh is very thin and two sections of it have completely rusted away. I was careful to keep the fire pit covered between uses and even stored it indoors. Overall, I am very disappointed with the quality of this product. It was a total waste of money. **Q: Can you use charcoal for cooking with this fire pit** A: You would have to have some type of a grill to place on it but I don’t see a reason you couldn’t put some charcoal in there and grill if you wanted to. **Q: Can you use wood pellets also?** A: We primarily use logs but often augment fires with pellets. Also throws off a lot of heat. I'm impressed with how completely it burns the wood. Filled it 6-7 times before emptying the ash, and there wasn't much. Also, cover it when not in use to keep the ash from mudding up, making it much harder to empty. It's been outside for 8 weeks and Stainless Steel hasn't rusted. I chose to keep the product, now I am regretting my decision.The fire pit is NOT smokeless.
