Firstly the fitment is snug but not tight on my size 10 feet, the DE's are tighter because of the tighter weave. They are a little lighter than the DE's bit not by much. The quality of stiching etc is comparable between the two and the warmth is the same. These have a instep stretch bit which is good and are sold with a higher merino wool content than the DE's which is difficult to check. I wear mine generally and always for dog walking and golf; if you were a serious hiker etc then probably these socks would not be suitable.
