You will need a contactor (relay) capable of handling the full load of the motor, probably many hundreds of amps. That said, the BatteryProtect can trigger a remote relay, but that function would be better accomplished with a battery monitor, like the Victron BMV-700, also connected to a large relay. The battery monitor can also be set to alarm when the battery gets low. **Q: is this suitable for under hood applications? Would engine bay temp or damp conditions be an issue?** A: No. The BP series is not suitable for this purpose. **Q: I want to use my RV is this a standalone product or does it need another device to input parameters for the battery to shut off at a certain voltage?** A: This is a programmable low voltage cut off device.
