It is also cost effective on sand paper because I can buy hook and loop disks in any grit I want and cut them to the size I need. When I buy 8" sanding disks I can get 2-3 disks by just cutting the disks out myself. I wish I had bought this years ago. It also works well on wood. Just make sure the tool is in firm contact with whatever you are sanding before you activate it.
