Not being an expert player means it's not easy for me to make it sound good when open strings are ringing out constantly.I've tried various DIY fixes but found this is much better and doesn't look like you got your bass tangled up in your laundry. I do like the way my bass sounds with it on too, I am able to get closer to the sound I want and the strings seem to have much more balanced output levels and tone. I Found out after trying it that it is supposed to be wrapped around the frets but that would limit the use of the fingerboard and add too much damping.
