To cope with the slight reduction in oral temperature caused by inserting the room temperature probe, I put it first in the left side heat pocket under my tongue for 45 seconds, then quickly shift to the right side. Takes about another 30 seconds to register the accurate temperature.

This to me feels like an old school thermometer, 1 to 2 minute temperature readings give it time to record a real temp. Used a professional Welch Allyn hospital thermometer to compare and was an exact match every time. Highly recommend.
