I've had a brita in the past, and this one is definitely preferable as it filters faster and doesn't have as much waste, as you aren't required to pour out the first pitcher full. It tastes like filtered water should, and I've used it frequently with no issues. My only complaint is that the old filter is sometimes nearly impossible to twist out in order to replace it with a new one. It locks perfectly, but the suction sometimes does its job too well.
