I use wall transformer switching supplies and they don't seem to mind being tied together. I think the wire resistance is enough to keep them from fighting each other (oscillating). With 12V strings you can have more lights between injection points (maybe 150) but they use about twice the power. I measured 31 watts for 100 12V pixels and 17.5 watts for 5V pixels. Both 100% white with similar brightness. **Q: What gauge wire is used?** A: It is thin, maybe 18ga? But it does have power injection leads on each end, so I just piped in 5v between each strand with some 14ga spkr wire and 10 strands work great on my tree. Note that you will need something to control them with. I'm currently using an Arduino to control them but have tested them with a simple controller that can be controlled with an IR remote as well. Due to the nature of the lights being 5 volts, connecting more then one string can cause the lights further down the chain to fade (especially on full white) when attaching more then one string of LED's. These lights are RGB so make sure any other lights are connecting to it are RGB as well.
