It can be, and i have, secured it to headboards, chairs, tables, ironing boards, doors, bedside cabinets and the list goes on. To secure you screw in the base of the product, which tightens the two securing clips. This allows you to add or remove pressure as needed. When securing please be weary of what you are securing it to, i have a faux leather headboard and this will leave an indent for a period of time after use.I use this with my iPhone 8+ and that is probably about the limit of what it can support in weight and size.
