I was able to put two dinning room chairs, large book bag, large couch pillows, and a pillowcase full of cloths in the oven. It comes with one wireless thermometer but I bought several extra indoor/outdoor thermometers like this: Taylor 1522 Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer , and placed the temperature sensors deep under layers and folds throughout the contents of bag to monitor the temperatures. The temperature rose quickly inside the over and the thicker items took a little longer to get to the right bug roasting at 120 degrees. Items need to be heated thoroughly internally/externally penetrating the cracks and crevices where bugs hide. So the oven gets to about 145 degrees inside. It recommended that you run the Oven from 4 to 8 hours depending on it contents. There are two included timer units that can be set at adjustable times of when you want heater to shut off. The package contains everything you will need to set it up. It even has an extra extension cord to make sure both heaters are on different circuit outlets. The two heater are small and look like legos to me. They have a switch on the bottom that will automatically turn unit off if knocked over. So, if its not perfectly seated on the switch the units will not power on. The oven heat tunnels made my heaters sit up too high so I had to put something underneath so the switch would make contact with the floor. I bought this because I wanted to be able to put bigger things in oven the just my carry-on luggage. And, to be able to do larger quantities on items that need bug extermination. Overall the ZappBug Oven 2 works very well. It is constructed out of a heavy canvas type of material and space age heat retainers, kind of like a Pizza over bag. It has a wire collapsible frame like you may have seen on some standup laundry bags. This system also allows it to fold down flat and be stored in the included storage bag. It is definitely better than some of the other brands of heating unit sold that I have tried: ThermalStrike Expedition - Bed Bug Heat Treatment . Still need to write a review for that one too. That is, amps for each motor?** A: Hi Barbara,The ZappBug Oven 2 runs on two separate heaters, each of which are 1500W and operate on standard 110V power. The amperage will vary slightly depending on your wiring but it's normally 12.5 amps each. We suggest running each heater on a separate circuit so that you don't pop a breaker and include one extension cord so that you can have one heater plugged in directly beside the unit and the other plugged in to another circuit via the extension cord. **Q: Is running the oven noisy an obnoxious? I have a small apartment and wondering if I need to leave while it's on.** A: You should not leave your home while the ZappBug oven is running. As per my review, the oven is heated by what are essentially two space heaters. IMO, it would be a fire hazard to leave while it is running. It is not noisy at all. It will make the room/apartment warm, so it is best to do it on a cold day and turn your regular heat down if it gets too warm. **Q: Do you have to bag your stuff inside the ZappBug oven? Or are the zippers bugproof? The Thermal Strike makes you bag your stuff, it's a pain.** A: I don't think I can answer that question with any first hand knowledge since I don't think our problem got to the level where things outside furniture were contaminated. I bought it and used it on clothing and other things just to be as thorough as possible. During the process we saw no evidence that they had gotten into any of the stuff we "cooked" in the "oven." However this is my opinion based on the instructions and my observations.There would be 4 possible ways the bugs could escape during the process.1- The zipper. It's a relatively large metal zipper, 2 actually which can close at either end of the opening or meeting anywhere in between. The closure point is not tight like you see in the better mattress covers. I don't think it can be due to the heavy duty construction of the zipper.2- The 2 heater inlets. Two inlet fabric heat tubes are sewn into the main body. There is tight elastic at the ends of the tubes. You insert the heaters into the tubes, the elastic is supposed to be tight enough to prevent escapes.3- The are screen vents sewn into the main body. The mesh to fine enough to prevent an adult bed bug from getting though it. I don't think even smaller ones could get through the mesh.4- Rips or tears. Obviously if there are any rips or tears in the unit the bugs could escape.With the exceptions of rips or tears I would not be concerned about bugs escaping unless the articles being placed in the ovean are so contaminated the bugs are literally climbing out of the articles as you are handling them. The thing you have to remember is how to use it properly. You are supposed to set up the oven and turn on the heaters before you start putting things in it. Then you have to unload your sealed bags directly over and into the oven opening so that anything alive will fall into the opening. The reason to have the heaters on is that the manufacturer claims the heat will either stun the bugs or cause them to run further into the center away from the incoming heat.We did not bag or containerize anything inside the oven. Clothing and stuff you place on the suspention net, heavy stuff on the blocks. The only exception was small items which we placed in plastic storage boxes for convienence. Some of the boxes warped a little from the heat but they only were worth about a buck or two which is nothing compared to what fighting bed bugs costs.A word of warning. If you have live bugs crawling around your stuff you can generally kill them by liberally spraying them with 97% rubbing alchol or Steri-Fab. But don't use alcohol or Steri-Fab near the heaters when they are on, the heaters can ignite the alcohol or Steri-Fab.As long as your unit is in good shape, properly assembled and you pre-heat it I don't see anything getting out of it alive. Hope this helps. **Q: Are the heaters compatible with 220v adapter?** A: While it's possible to use 220V adapters with the unit we don't recommend it. If you do use them, make sure that they are highly rated enough that they can handle the power draw of each heater - 1500 Watts. This is save me from the headache I thought I was going to go through getting rid of the bed bugs. This made it so much easier! Since it was pretty big I didn’t have to do too many rounds of “zapping” so that was time saver! I did leave some space for the air to move around the items as the instructions indicated, which I believe helped. The instructions were very clear and easy to set up myself. I’m really glad it shuts off on its own because I know I’d forget to turn it off. If feel like this will be nice to use when I get my winter clothes out of storage or after coming home from vacation.
