I regret I hadn't come across this album when I was on the verge of depression last autumn, because it's better than a therapy session. The songs reflect what Ed was going through while writing them, mainly grief and depression, even suicidal thoughts. They are raw, painful and yet truly beautiful and moving at the same time. But as always, Ed know that when you hit rock bottom, there's only one true way - up. And 'Fields of Aberfeldy' (the last track in the regular album edition) prove that. The bonus songs on the Deluxe version are exquisite, absolutely not just some extra addition to the album. They could easily be singles as well, and the closing one, 'Moving' is a stroke of genius musically and vocally...
