The length and additional base extension pole provide versatility. You will likely have to adjust the tension once set-up, as the arm wants to return to a height which is not ideal for some microphones. The cable management is simple but excellent. I’ve mounted mine on the corner of my desk, such that I can pull it toward me when in use.
