I've only worn them on the ice once or twice and didn't slip at all but, I confess, I was walking a bit more carefully after my falls anyway! Great for running on pavements with frost or ice. I've had mine for years. The metal springs wear out and snap before the rubber breaks. But they're not a long day hike type item, the plastic breaks, if you carry some string (e.g. dymeena) as a self repair you can keep going. So long as you know that and use in that context it's a brilliant bit of kit. I use mine to walk to the shops for half a mile it's bliss to have no slipping and walk fast.
