## Questions & Answers

**Q: Once installed, how are the LEDs replaced should they need to be?**
A: You Would have to change the fitting as the lamp is non replaceable

**Q: Will a 15w LED fit on to an existing 24w  unit terminal block that is secured to the ceiling?**
A: There are a neutral and feed (live) terminal block built in that connect to the switch and neutral.

Usually but not always you will have more than one feed cable L&N&Earth that feed to one light then another to make a lighting circuit, these are usually connected with terminal blocks, from here a live is taken to the switch (switch live or common it's known as) then from the switch to the fitting and a neutral is taken to the fitting from the feeds.

To answer your question, the terminal block in the fitting is fixed in place so it's easier to remove the fitting and use the terminal block of your new fitting if it's supplied with the fitting if not a couple of 6amp terminal blocks will do it as the lighting circuit is usually 5amps at the consumer unit.

**Q: is this glass or plastic shade?**
A: It is plastic and very bright.

**Q: Can these lights be used with a separate motion sensor?**
A: I don't know for sure but I can't see why it would not work.  If your motion sensor turns on a remote light then I would think it possible to use  the Lepro fitting as a direct replacement.

The first thing I’d say is I’m very impressed with the light output, the fittings look okay & they’re cheap. However, as can be seen from photos on other reviews, installation isn’t always straightforward. Part of the fitting’s specification is its water resistance. There is a gasket around the terminal cover to assist with this. If single insulated cable (or stripped flex etc) is used, the gasket won’t seal the cover. A correctly sized & stripped flex needs to be used to maintain water resistance - which is where we come to issue number 2. Most uk lights are wired using the ‘looped in’ method. This means you will normally encounter a minimum of two cables, each containing three wires. On most fittings there will be three cables (nine wires) and occasionally there may be a looped supply to another lamp, totalling twelve wires! These fittings have provision for a maximum of four wires, two ‘live’ (switch wires) & two neutral. That’s assuming you use flat 2-core flex, or you’ll be back to losing water resistance. This leaves you with a couple of problems - firstly you’ll need some flex, which isn’t provided. Secondly, you’ll need to make the other wires off safely. The usual solution is to stick them into connector blocks, joining the switch wire & neutral connections onto your flex & stuffing the blocks into the ceiling, leaving the flex dangling to connect to the fitting. This doesn’t comply with the wiring regulations though & definitely limits the water resistant qualities. Assuming you find your way around that issue, there are another couple of minor niggles. One is what first appears to be a good idea - the metal bracket the unit clips onto. A sensible design would have clips that disengaged when pushed, but the designers went for the easier ‘disengage when pulled’ option. There isn’t much space to do this, so unless you have thin & nimble fingers you may end up having to use a loop of string or a long nosed pliers to pull the clips back. (I notice that on the newer model, it comes with attached flex & the clip bracket has been abandoned). Finally, the lamps aren’t replaceable. They’re supposed to last 20,000 hours, which is around the same as a standard LED lamp..... in my experience, LED lamps don’t last 20,000 hours in the real world. When they fail though, I just swap the lamp. When one of these goes, the whole fitting is shot & needs replacing. They’re cheap, but not as cheap as replacement lamps. Overall, I think they’re a worthwhile buy, especially if they can be wired in flex from an accessible joint box. Very bright, so ideal in many situations & good value as long as the lamps don’t burn out too quickly.
