They have a short range of about 4/5 meters. I would recommend spending a little more money and getting a better pair. However, they are described as over ear 'phones, they are not, they are on the ear and let in external sounds very easily. Whilst there is good base response there is little clarity and good definition in the higher register. I use these for watching Youtube with my Acer Google Chrome tablet which has an amazing sound and speaker system which is lost with this headset.
