FAA regs. forbid torch lighters on flights. If you have ever tried to light a cigar in a (even mildly) windy place - like a cruise ship deck) - you know my pain. This is especially true on cruises or visits to certain places outside the U.S., where it is impossible to purchase a disposable torch lighter. I was skeptical at first, but I bought one of these and took it along on my trip to central Europe last fall. The airlines DO allow you to bring non-torch butane lighters on board (only in your carry-on luggage) - two of them, I believe. Plus, you should be able to find the lighter inserts for this thing almost anywhere. I was able to pack the lighter mechanism in my checked bag, and two butane (flip my bic type) lighters in carry-on. And guess what? This thing works!
