It contains a small quantity of a unique active ingredient called sodium cromoglicate. I have read that this was discovered by a British chemist working for a UK company some years ago and formed the basis of several allergy products that work differently from all others by safely stabilising the cells that release histamine and cause the irritating allergy symptoms.The drops are easy to use, much like the dry eye drops I use daily. The dropper bottle is well designed to be able to hold it firmly yet gently to allow a single drop to fall easily into the eye. For a child, I would think a parent would be better to apply at home, but with a bit of practice, the bottle could be taken to school to use during the day, too, if needed.The effect is speedy. The drops just do their job and keep the eye protected for several hours. We find it does need frequent dosing, as per the recommendations but lasts long enough to be really useful.
