Since then I've left the lights on by mistake 3x, draining the battery, because I'm so used to that function in all my other cars. While the headlights would go out when you parked the car, the daytime running lights would stay on, thereby draining the battery This one is a perfect drop in, plug and play. What I like about this one is that theres a light photcell on the top of the switch, versus the other ones that come with a wired sensor that you mount on the dash or the A pillar. This switch integrated photocell works very well. As soon as sunlight comes through the windshield after pulling out of my dark garage, the headlamps turn off. Interesting that when you merely open the doors, the headlamps do come on, which in the original switch they wouldn't come on until you actually moved the switch to on. They were not associated with the door being opened. One thing of note. It has positions for fog and parking lights. I dont know if this one is defective, but i can't move the switch to either of those positions. I don't have fog lights to begin with so its not a problem for me. But I would like to have the ability to put my parking lights on at times, but its not a deal breaker. It's not quite as robust as the OEM but I didn't expect it to, compared to OEM prices. Finally, my car came with a rather heavy brushed satin trim on the switch. This one is a thin strip of chrome. Hardly noticeable as it being different.
