Review: If you're looking at this, you're probably already going to buy this. - Of all the Super Sentai series sets that Shout Factory as produced, this one (so far) is the best acted. While the villains and comedy was Carranger's biggest strength, Megaranger's cast is their strongest suit. Every character feels developed, which is saying something for a Sentai series. This also is a show that really uses it's female cast members instead of just having them there to fill out the team, another rarity. So all-in-all it was a refreshing change from the direction Zyuranger-Carranger was doing, as the Sentai themselves can sometimes be one-note in these series. The premise of using emerging digital (90s) technology as a weapon is pretty good, and nostalgic if one lived through that era. The villains use a mixture of magic and inter-dimensional alien science, so it's a good contrast. I can't say the villains in this one match Carrangers (the previous show), but the overall theme and characters make up for it. Sometimes the mecha battles can re-use that stock footage a bit much, as well. For a show that doesn't have a lot of transformation mechs, it seems like summoning the various mechs take FOREVER. But then again, I'm not a mech person. I can appreciate a good mech battle, but sometimes a big dramatic story that seemed resolved get somewhat ruined by a pointless mech battle that adds nothing. Part of that is the story it's in, the other part is stock footage, and lastly pacing. But those are my only negative comments. Overall... buy this. Support Shout Factory and lets keep these Super Sentai releases coming. I can die happy if we ever get to Gekiranger, Shinkenger, and Gokaiger. If you're a Super Sentai fan, you're going to buy this anyway, but buy it! Megaranger, on it's own, is just a wonderful edition to the series, well worth the price on it's own, never mind it being Super Sentai. It's an outstanding show. You need this. YOU NEED THIS! Review: Another Outstanding dvd - Another great release from shout Factory. Super Sentai Megaranger is the fifth Japanese release which was made into Power Rangers In Space. First of all it arrived 2 days before it was ment to arrive which made me very happy. The artwork was spot on and the subtitles are very easy to read. So this season is completely different to how power rangers in space was. The 5 school teens gain there powers from a computer game which was there to find the highest scorer only with Kenta beating a arcade bully that he was invited back to Inet. But the other 4 megarangers went looking or sneaking in to find out what the place was until it was attacked by the villains that they gain the powers. The storylines in this season are brilliant with some stories which was adapted into power rangers in space and only one story about about the forest (protect the forest) was in power rangers turbo. After watching the series it easily became one of my favorites, tied with Zyuranger and Dairanger. The actors in this show did great work, the characters where interesting, especially the villains and the plot of the whole show was great. This show also had the best of the Evil Sentai team's so far, the Nezirangers and a really great theme song. While I did enjoy Kakuranger, Ohranger and Carranger this show just impressed me so much more then they did. The only thing missing from this set is the Megaranger Vs Carranger movie, I've always been disappointed that the movies are never included or even released separately in the States.
