And more often than not I got a sharp edge when snapped off the head. So on socks I ended up with the unappealing snapped side facing outside sock to not irritate skin with a rough edge. I've gone on to Avery microstitch tool. A lot more expensive but easy to use and unobtrusive fixing device.
