Cotswold Dandelion Coffee(Non-Instant), 100g

It's so hard to get real dandelion coffee. I've got a few dandelions in the garden, but it's quite a bit of effort to get a couple of tap-roots that'll do a couple of cups at best.Most wholefood stores and bigger supermarkets may have instant dandelion coffee, but it's got a weird sweet flavour, and since they've changed the formula it tastes even worse. The best, and most "realistic" dandelion coffee is made from pieces of roasted root in the same way one would brew filter coffee from fresh beans.This is the real deal. It tastes superb. I've tried it out on a few relatives, and some couldn't tell it from real coffee when it was black. I personally don't put milk in, as it gives it a weird almost fruity flavour, but if you wish to reduce your caffeine intake, give this stuff a go.It allegedly also has numerous health benefits, - dandelions have been reputed to stimulate the kidneys, act as a liver tonic, and stabilise blood-sugar levels in folk medicine. Obviously this isn't something you'd use in place of a medicine, but as a general pick-me-up for an otherwise-healthy individual, it's brilliant. It also gives that all-important jolt just like caffeine, yet is caffeine-free. I love this stuff!

It's very tasty, much like coffee, and I do not miss the caffeing (thought I would). It's also healthy in many ways. It's replaced coffee for me.

I gave this product a go after having drunk dandelion coffee for many years, but having it flown over from Australia. I thought this one had a lovely toasty smell but it is nothing like the experience of dandelion I'm used to - which is much darker, more bitter and gives you a noticeable energy lift. This one doesn't taste of dandelion (which is definitely an acquired taste anyway!), it tastes much more subtle, more like yannoh or good quality chicory, with none of the energising or cleansing effects. So I guess this may appeal to people who don't like the strong taste of other kinds of dandelion. The parcel came quickly though and no problems with the sale, will probably be back for other products. All the best! :)

Lovely and none of the excessive sweetness with the instants; the more I have it the more I like it... I had real coffee the other day and found I didnt like it as much any more .... actually prefer this.... which is a definite result when I only bought it because I couldn't tolerate coffee any more (acid reflux.... I certainly wasnt going to be on tablets for the rest of my life just to have regular coffee).Only thing is, I dunno if I ground it too fine, but Im having to really soak the metal filters in my coffee maker to unbung them every time I use it (but having said that about a teaspoon full of the powder is making three cups of coffee...so its going a lot further than the equivalent amount of normal coffee grounds)Im still on my first packet, as I ground the entire thing and put it in a jar in fridge, so will be experimenting with different degrees of grinding (its almost powder this time round- ground using the kenwood grinder attachment).

I'd rather not drink coffee at all as the taste was very bitter. So sorry.

It is really small quantity (100g). Hard like stone and I believe that's why it says on the box "do not attempt to pass through any type of coffee grinder, ... just on the revolving blade type grinder." I have not tasted it yet. So can't compare the taste with real coffee. But for the size and money i would not buy again frequently , just when i am doing a liver cleanse.
